Business Support and Communications Officer

 

The Nord-Aski Regional Economic Development Corporation (REDC) is one of 267 federally funded, non-profit organizations delivering the Community Futures Program across Canada.  Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, we foster community economic development and employment growth in the communities of Hornepayne, Hearst and Mattice-Val Côté as well as Constance Lake First Nation by supporting small and medium sized businesses in the form of strategic advice and access to capital through our business lending program.

 

We are currently seeking a Business Support and Communications Officer.

 

Position Overview

The Business Support and Communications Officer works directly with clients and businesses to provide strategic feedback, supporting the process of business planning and execution. He or she supports the internal and external communications strategy, writes and disseminates promotion material, responds to inquiries from the public and media, and coordinates promotional events and seminars.

 

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the ideal candidate possesses the following training / skills / experience:

 

  • Post-Secondary education in accounting, communications and/or marketing or equivalent in experience.

  • 3 to 5 years of commercial lending experience and commercial credit underwriting experience is considered an asset.

  • Able to analyze financial statements, evaluate business plans, and provide business counselling to entrepreneurs.

  • Understanding of communications, public relations, and marketing best practices.

  • Advanced knowledge of social media platforms and ability to use them to maintain the corporation’s accounts.

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 programs and tools.

  • Working knowledge of accounting software programs.

  • Possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content in both official languages.

  • Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to think strategically and identify ways to improve communication efforts.

  • Must be resourceful and take initiative when given minimal direction.

 

The Business Support and Communications Officer is a full-time position (35 hrs/week) based out of our office in Hearst. The salary range is $50,960 to $78,260 annually. (Starting rate is based on experience and qualifications.) A competitive compensation and employee benefits package including group insurance, retirement savings plan, and vacation/sick leave entitlement is also provided.
